Engraved Carabiners and Blank Carabiners — Our Carabiners Are 1st Quality:
Our engraved carabiners and blank carabiners are both constructed of anodized series-6000 aluminum — commercial jet aircraft-grade aluminum — providing a tough, resistant, rich bright color and finish.

Our engraved carabiners are permanently and crisply etched on the surface, or cut into — YAG Laser engraved — at no extra charge, as opposed to silk screened which is prone to flaking or inferior Co2 engraving. Being YAG laser engraved, your tack-sharp message radiates quality.

And all, both engraved carabiners and blank carabiners, feature very strong, crisp spring-clips with a silky, smooth opening and closing action.

Second-side engraved option is available for only 15¢ each. Great for your company name on one side, and Web address on the other.

Engraved carabiners shown are not for climbing or mountaineering — but are great for many outdoor uses and light duty attaching as they are are wonderfully weather resistant.

Engraved Carabiners and Anodized Aluminum: How it Works
Aluminum carabiners undergo a process known as "anodization", which thickens the natural oxide layer of the carabiner resulting in a heavy aluminum oxide layer of controlled thickness with the hardness similar to that of a ruby or sapphire.

This anodized coating is extremely desirable for applications such as engraved carabiners, due to the following properties:

  • Increased corrosion resistance
  • Increased durability / wear resistance
  • Ability to be colored via dying
  • Ability to be sharply laser engraved with powerful YAG lasers

In scientific terms, the process of anodizing consists of an anodizing solution typically made up of sulfuric acid – the electrolyte. A cathode is connected to the negative terminal of a voltage source and placed in the solution. The carabiners – acting as the anode –  are connected to the positive terminal of the voltage source and also place in the solution. When the circuit is turned on, the oxygen in the anodizing solution is liberated from the water molecules and combine with the aluminum carabiner forming the aluminum oxide coating.

During the anodizing process, multiple controls are required to assure specified thickness, abrasion resistance and density. In the production of quality anodized carabiners, and all quality anodized aluminum products, sophisticated monitoring equipment and highly-trained, experienced staff are critical requirements.

These anodizing coatings can be clear or colored, and actually integrate with the surface of the aluminum resulting in an extremely durable, shiny and wonderfully smooth layer.

This layer responds exceptionally well to the YAG laser engraving process. The YAG laser is used to etch or carve your design or letters literally right through the anodized surface material of the carabiner, exposing the aluminum underneath. With this process is achieved a permanence, crispness and contrast that radiates quality.

The result? Our beautiful, bright and rugged engraved carabiners!
